Job Description

Herricks is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our team in providing comprehensive behavioral support to students with disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, within an elementary school setting. The BCBA will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and monitoring evidence-based behavioral interventions using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of functional behavior assessments (FBAs), behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and the ability to effectively train and collaborate with school staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs):

    • Conduct thorough and accurate FBAs to identify the function of challenging behaviors.

    • Analyze data from FBAs to develop hypotheses regarding the antecedents and consequences of target behaviors.

  • Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs):

    • Develop individualized BIPs based on FBA results, incorporating evidence-based ABA strategies.

    • Write clear, concise, and measurable BIPs that address the specific needs of each student.

    • Ensure BIPs are aligned with the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

  • Implementation and Monitoring:

    • Provide IEP services to students and families, including but not limited to Behavior Intervention Services and Parent Counseling & Training.

    • Implement and oversee the implementation of BIPs across various school settings.

    • Collect and analyze data to monitor the effectiveness of interventions and make necessary adjustments.

    • Conduct regular observations and provide feedback to staff on BIP implementation.

  • Staff Training and Collaboration:

    • Provide training and ongoing support to teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school staff on ABA principles and BIP implementation.

    • Model effective implementation of behavioral strategies and provide constructive feedback.

    • Collaborate with IEP teams, parents, and other professionals to ensure consistent and coordinated support for students.

    • Communicate effectively with the school team, including but not limited to our School Psychologist, Social Worker, and Special Education Teacher, who will then facilitate communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress.

  • Data Collection and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and intervention data.

    • Prepare and present reports on student progress to IEP teams and school administration.

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations.

  • Professional Development:

    • Stay current with best practices in ABA and related fields.

    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in1 Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing.

  • Experience conducting FBAs and developing BIPs in a school setting.

  • Knowledge of and experience implementing ABA principles and procedures.

  • Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with students with diverse needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional Disabilities, and all areas of disability 

  • Experience training adults.

  • Background in working with elementary aged children.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a public school setting.

  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

  • Knowledge of specific data collection software.
