Music Teacher


  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to carry an assignment to its completion;
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences;
  • Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students;
  • Apply and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook;
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers;
  • Maintain professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members;
  • Support students in a particular grade or grade music content aligned to the school's scope and sequence;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal or the Supervisor of Instruction that will provide for a successful program.


Teaching Assistants

A teaching assistant assists students with instructional and behavioral needs. Teaching assistants report directly to the Building Principal and/or the Special Education Supervisor.


  • Provide instructional support to individual students under the direction of the classroom teacher
  • Assists the teacher in planning and maintaining a safe, clean, learning environment and in assuring the well-being and safety of the children in his/her care.
  • Present subject matter to small group or individual students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
  • Maintains a positive, calm attitude and a soft voice, and encourage this attitude and voice in others working in the classroom.
  • Assist in related duties which may be assigned because of specific needs (the maintenance and/or preparation of instructional and life skills materials, for example).
  • Other responsibilities to be assigned by Special Education Supervisor, Principal, and/or his/her designee.
