Food Service Worker

Performs various tasks involved in the preparation and serving of food; performs related duties as required.

Under direct supervision, the duties require incumbents to maintain and adhere to sanitary standards.

  • Assist in preparation food for meal programs i.e. sandwiches, salads.
  • Serves food and snacks. 
  • Cleans tables, dishes, pots, pans, etc.
  • Acts as cashier when needed.
  • Ability to use and care for food service equipment and all appliances.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
Cleaner/Sub Cleaner

Duties and qualifications:    

  • Under general supervision performs routine cleaning duties and related work, i.e. painting, unskilled maintenance tasks, as required.
     
  • Sweeps, mops, washes walls, dusts, empties waste baskets and disposes of rubbish, handles towels and other cleaning supplies, waxes floors, washes windows and blackboards, assists in cartage of supplies and equipment.
     
  • May set up and remove furniture for special affairs.
     
  • Participates in maintenance of grounds in immediate vicinity of buildings, as necessary, i.e. removes snow, leaves etc.
     
  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.

 

Per Diem Substitute Teacher 23-24

The successful candidate will join a highly motivated team in one of the most linguistically and culturally diverse high achieving district in Nassau County. We seek an outstanding collaborator with experience working with students, parents and school staff.

Substitute teachers are responsible for assisting students to pursue his or her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher.

Major Responsibilities and Functions

  • Report to the Building Principal or School Secretary upon arrival at the school building.
  • Review with the Principal and/or Assistant Principal all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
  • Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
  • Teach the lesson outlined and described in the plans prepared by the absent teacher.
  • Consult, as appropriate, with the Building Principal and Assistant Principals before initiating any teacher or other procedures not specified in the Substitute Teacher’s Handbook.
  • Report in writing, on the form provided by the school secretary, on the day’s activities at the conclusion of the teaching day.
  • Follow all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Performs professional nursing services at one or more schools in the maintenance of acceptable health standards, school health records and the emergency treatment of student and employee health problems; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES

Under the general direction of a School Physician or School Nurse-Teacher, this is a professional nursing position involving responsibility for giving care to students and for performing related nursing services such as pupil health screening and notification of defects and communicable disease control. This position differs from the certificated position of School Nurse-Teacher in that there is no responsibility involved for either classroom instruction or guidance. Supervision may be exercised over the work of clerical assistants.

TYPICAL DUTIES

1.

Assists the School Physician in physical, visual, and auditory screening examinations of students and employees.

2.

Administers first aid and emergency treatment to students and employees.

3.

Prepares and maintains health records for school authorities.

4.

Assists at school immunization clinics.

5.

Arranges to transport sick or injured students or employees to hospital, home, doctor's or dentist's offices in cases of emergency.

6.

Inspects the school plant, playground, and cafeteria and reports on general safety and sanitary conditions.

7.

Orders, inventories, and oversees the storage of first aid and related health supplies and equipment.

8.

Consults with attendance teachers, staff members and School Nurse-Teachers concerning a variety of health factors related to non-attendance and communicable disease.

9.

Prepares records and reports as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

1.

Knowledge of nursing principles and techniques and their relation to medical practices and skill in their application.

2.

Working knowledge of materia medica, dietetics, sanitation and personal hygiene.

Skill in the application of nursing techniques and practices.

Ability to understand and follow technical, oral, and written instructions.

5.

Ability to keep records and make reports.

6.

Ability to get along well with students, teachers, parents, and others.

Ability to carry out successfully the measures prescribed.

Ability to plan and supervise the work of sub-professional and non-technical personnel.

Training and Experience

Graduation from a school of nursing approved by the State Education Department from a course approved by such department as qualifying for Registered Professional Nurse.
